Color Spot Nurseries, Inc. is currently seeking an experienced Distribution Manager. This position is based out of our San Juan Capstrano, California facility. The Distribution Manager coordinates all aspects of facility shipping and customer service while ensuring the highest quality at the lowest possible cost, and will directly supervise all loaders and drivers. The Distribution Manager must carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; holding regular meetings and complying with safety regulations; measuring and monitoring efficiencies; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following (other duties may be assigned):
- Ensure the safety of all employees
- Ensure timely distribution of all products
- Route trucks to ensure optimal cubing and cost per mile
- Provide analysis and documents actual freight costs for outbound freight, as well as measure fill rate on a daily, weekly, monthly and yearly basis
- Monitor store refusals and develop action plans to reduce
- Track citations and develop action plan to reduce to zero
- Plan, organize, delegate, coach, develop, and lead employee performance on an individual and team basis
- Ensure that all DMV and DOT needs of the equipment are met
- Supervise staff and audit and validate freight invoices as well as all aspects of documentation requirements
- Ensure timely reporting of all expenses and financial information
- Manage the driving, loading and assembly staff
- Manage customer service functions for the facility
- Manage all capital projects in the Distribution area
- Recommend budgeted expense levels to the General Manager and financial staff
- Assist in preparation of long range planning schedules
- Perform any other work as directed by manager

Skills, knowledge, experience:
- Minimum 5 years experience in Distribution/Traffic Management
- Strong logistics and planning skills
- Must be able to interact with field operations and sales teams
- Strong business, communication, leadership, planning and organizing, as well as conflict management skills
- Ability to create and design systems to increase overall efficiency. Bring ideas to management and be able to implement changes and improvements effectively
- Strong knowledge of D.O.T and O.S.H.A. regulations
- Budgeting and accounting knowledge helpful
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient with computers and all required software
- Develop and foster a team mentality in a fast-paced environment
- Bilingual Spanish Preferred, but not required
